So real that you want to jump into the story and help her.
I connect with her on so many levels with my history of addiction. I was older than her though, she was only 15, but a lot of the emotions and general events are similar.
There is no happy ending.
This is not some mediocre story about a young, addicted girl. This is someone's life. Real life. It's so gritty that you devour the pages.
About that; the pages. This book is her diary. You really violate her privacy, but if people don't read it, they never get the point. Even she wrote, then it would all be for nothing.
A brilliant book, but for reasons that only someone who's been touched by addiction would understand. People who have not lived that life, or known someone close to them who has, probably will turn a nose at it. Ignorance is bliss, after all. So not everyone will appreciate this book, but I sure as hell do.
